Yes, I know this is off-topic for our site and I thought about putting it in Chaff but it’s gear related. If y’all don’t like it please feel free to move it, delete it or let it sink quickly to the bottom of the forum. With that said…

A friend who has gone to Burning man for 6 or 7 years just invested in a new sheater that is very interesting. The design goals are stability in the wind, sun protection and durability. My friend will be sleeping in it during the day with a solar-powered DIY swamp cooler.

Interesting, let us know how it worked.  We went to B.M. back in 2012.  First time that i used an umbrella for shade protection, but sometimes it was iffy since the winds were sometimes fairly strong.   As far as shelters, we just used a cheap, car camping type tent, but i put reflective material on top of it.  A tipi made out of reflective material would be interesting, but annoying to put all those peg/anchors in (lots of folks use rebar).

Except for sleeping, we didn’t spend much time in there, and we walked A LOT cause mi esposa is type A and a bit polarized to the extrovert side of the spectrum and has to see and do everything. (Whereas for me, it was stimulation overload, and i took a day and went to the boundary to be alone).
