PERTEX has recently released a new method of making true baffles for light sen jackets and parkas.
Instead of sewn-through tubes PERTEX has woven baffles so where is NO stitching and far less of a cold spot. Obviously a garment company could specify the distance between baffles within reason and this means warmer parkas and jackets with less labor (labour?;o)
PERTEX has also developed some new fibers for their shell materials that is stronger, more wind resistant and moisture resistant such as their Y shaped fibers.
Combining the best of these fibers with the woven Quantium Infinity baffles means PERTEX has a big edge on traditional light nylon shells and sewn-thru construction.
IMHO I think this will greatly improve down and even synthetic fill garments and other outdoor fabric makers better pay attention.
