I’ve been looking into picking up a pair of the Patagonia Strider Pro shorts, primarily because the setup (and security) of the pockets looks appealing to me. Unlike a lot of people who hike in running shorts (at least so it seems), I tend to like keeping things in my pockets (phone, bars, etc.), so on paper these seem like they’d be a good fit for my hiking style.

That said, it also looks like the pockets are situated a good bit higher up on the shorts than most running shorts (the pictures make it seem as though the tops of the side pockets run more or less up into the waistband area), so I’m curious if anybody’s used these with a pack and hipbelt.

Any comments would be appreciated- I’m curious if the design makes it awkward to access the pockets when wearing a pack.

They’re my favorite running shorts. I don’t think the pockets would be useable with a hip belt though.
