These numbers are incorrect according to what I received from Patagonia. They’re very forthcoming on technical questions. I also have the current model (this year), had the previous (last few years) and I tried on the model before that, and Patagonia’s info matches my weighing and subjective warmth experience.
According to Patagonia, the current (this year) Men’s Fitz Roy Parka size Medium weighs 22.3 oz (632g) and has 227g (8 oz) of 800 FP. Mine weighed, inside the plastic bag with tags attached and stuff sack, 23.6 oz.
The previous (for several years) Men’s Fitz Roy Parka in size Medium in the plastic bag with tags weighed in at 19.5 oz. and had 200g (7.05 oz) down fill. It had one inside hanging pocket. This previous Fitz Roy Parka had only 1 oz less down than the current one, and it was a significant improvement over the model before it, in that it added a draft tube on both sides of front zipper (which the current model retains).
The extra weight in the current Men’s Fitz Roy Parka over the previous model went to 1 oz extra down, larger inside pockets and a zipped inside pocket, which are very useful in winter.
The current Women’s Fitz Roy Parka size Medium is supposed to have 181g (6.38 oz) 800 FP – a Patagonia rep may have mixed this up with the current Men’s model. In addition, I’m pretty sure two models before the current model (the model without the double draft tube) the Men’s Medium had 180g 800 FP.
Hope that helps.
