Patagonia DAS light hoody vs Rab Xenon?

Hi there,

I noticed the new(?) Patagonia DAS light hoody and I wondered how it compares to the very popular Rab Xenon. Did anyone maybe compare those jackets or have some insight for me?

I’m looking for a new ski touring jacket (warm and packable) that I can use when descending, as an outer layer (non-waterproof). I currently use the Rab Generator Alpine but it’s bulky to pack.
Can anyone maybe recommend anything?

Edit: 2 important drawbacks pointed out in the comments on the Patagonia website: No drawstring on hood and bottom, that could be a problem.

Thanks!
Christoph

The Rab Kaon looks like an interesting alternative with hydrophobic down. However, I’m not sure if I want to risk it getting wet…

@ Christoph I myself and still quite happy with the original Das Parka belay puffy. I only use it when I am not moving.  Have you seen the reviews here: https://www.patagonia.com/reviews/view-all-reviews/?productid=85300

It looks like the Das Light like its forebearer is designed as a belay puffy to fit OVER all your other layers hence the complaints about roominess. Not sure why they left a drawstring off the hood and hem. Perhaps they figured if you are wearing your hardshell underneath the puffy, you dont need more drawstrings to cinch tight.  Also see the comment about sealed seams.

Cheers

How do they actually measure the PlumaFill insulation?
Is it mass per square metre or total fill weight or what?
I need to replace my own old DAS and would like to save a few grams in the pack if I thought that this new parka would be warm enough and more importantly large enough
