I’m looking for an insulated hooded jacket and waterproof/breathable(I know) pants. I’m training for a 100 mile run and looking for clothes to get me through the night portion.

The pants will hopefully not be used but are there just in case. I know dri-ducks use to be the budget choice but I’m looking for something more tapered. Hopefully with ankle zips or elastic so I can put them on without taking off my shoes. Packability and weight are the biggest factor. Looking at the OR Helium pants right now.

For the hooded insulated jacket I bought a OR Cathode jacket last year and it is good but it packs down pretty big. What is good these days for a hooded insulated jacket that packs down small?

Thanks

Montane Minimus pants are good, I like them. Light, can put on over shoes, and they have tabs midway down the calf so you can cinch them a bit. 20 percent off one full priced item at Backcountry right now brings the price down to $112.

Frogg Toggs at Walmart are a budget option for water-proof / breathable jackets / pants.  They have an “ultralight ” version for $19.99 (I also see them on Amazon for $17.99) for BOTH jacket and pants.  Backpackers.com reports the jacket is 5.5 ounces, not sure which size.  Someone on TrailSpace reports the jacket and pants weigh 10.3 oz in size Large.  Modifying them with zippers and to cut away excess fabric wouldn’t be hard.
