Packit Gourmet has to be one of my favorite companies.  This is a personal hand written message on my “invoice” with my order.  And it was the smallest order I have placed with them.

These guys are awesome.  They are based in Austin – which makes me love them that much more!

They are truly super, but they are now my sh*t list for dropping the double portion dinners. I have caloric needs, and could polish off a double portion after a hard day. Now I need to buy two singles and repackage them?? I am much less likely to buy from them in the future because of this, unfortunately, because I love their stuff otherwise. :^(

I’m a huge fan of the Berry Berry Fruit Smoothie and will be ordering some of the Peach in my next order.  They also just started making a new Pasta Beef Bolognese that I can’t wait to try.  I understand why they went to all single-serving meals, but it sure was nice when they also had a 2-person option.

I also can’t wait for them to find another sausage vendor so they can bring back their Zydeco Red Beans & Rice.

Thanks for sharing the note.

They had a large number of requests to do single servings.  I was really happy when they changed the beef stew to a single serving.  Unfortunately most people seem to want single servings.

I asked them about the servings, and I got the impression it was lack of interest in the double portions that caused them to drop them. They used to have both single or double portion options, and simply eliminated the doubles. Everyone I travel with up here liked the doubles, and I can’t imagine we were alone, plus it doesn’t seem like that much extra bother to offer both.

On the plus side it has forced me to experiment with making my own dinners, and I’ve got a recipe I like and is portioned correctly for me. I do miss their stuff though, and will on occasion maybe repackage some singles, but that gets really expensive.

Buy bulk items and customize: it will be much cheaper, you will get more variety, and you can make the portions as large as you like. Buy a single portion and augment it with bulk items.

I like pretty much all of their food, although I need to skip some of the spicier ones (just my taste buds – nothing wrong with them). I especially like the smoothies and the chocolate mousse for dessert.
