    @drk

    I am curious what the usual weight percentage is for various pack elements of a typical pack – pack material, suspension elements like yolk and belt, compression elements, and zippers.

    Thanks,

    LK

    It’s a big, complicated topic but a framed ultralight pack around 40-50L would usually have about 2 square yards of the main fabric (e.g. 6-12 oz), and a frame around 3-5 oz, and then about a pound of other stuff which is mostly padding/foam but quite a bit in webbing too and in the front pocket mesh.

    Thanks Dan, appreciate the response.

    For the harness element, do you think there would there be a significant weight difference using a traditional harness with padding vs. a vest type of harness without the padding?
