Hi

Has anyone used pacer poles with a tarp tent as tent supports?

I have pacer poles, but have not used them for tent support.

But I do know of them being used, in the same way you would use a normal pole, ie Handle Down to support Tarp Tent Notch. My thought is they may require a little more fiddling to get in place, but once tension is on should be as stable.

Wazza.

I have asked this before and been assured it’s fine, but never tested.

I’ve used them with my Tarp Tent Notch for years.  I ran a “zip tie” through the holes that the wrist strap goes through and tie the floor tie outs to those. It took some trial and error to get the zip ties adjusted to the right size though.

I have used them for over five years with both duomids and solomids strapping them together with the handles outward, one in the dirt and one in the tent peak. I use Hyperlight Mountain Gear ultamid pole straps. They last a long time.

I’ve used them for years. The aluminiums are strong and will take a big wind.

The only issue you might have is with designs that have a small pocket for the pole handle, but these are quite rare.

If you’re inserting the tip into a grommet, as with many of the TarpTent designs, you shouldn’t have an issue.

It also works fine where the tarp is supported by the pole handle nestled into a reinforced patch and the tip in the ground, as with many of the MLD designs.

If you can be more specific about the tarp, we could give you a more definitive answer.
