PA Pinchot State Forest – Choke Creek

It’s a nice trail, isn’t it?  I’ve hiked past that campsite at the bend in the stream numerous times but haven’t ever camped there.  I stay at one of the spots up closer to the beaver dam.  I also load up with water at the small stream about 30 minutes before you get to that campsite – I don’t like pulling water downstream of a beaver dam if I can avoid it.

Thanks for posting – I think I’d probably do that loop as a winter hike as well.  What were the temps?

PSF is a keeper for us. The Choke Creek Trail during warmer temps will be interesting because of the water sources (mudd), so we plan to wear waterproof boots, bring bug nets, and use insect repellent.

The temps were as shown in the forecast (see screen shot), but went lower after 9:00 AM with higher wind and additional snow accumulation.
