There, I said it. Won’t honor their warranties from defective manufacturing. Been trying for about 3 months now to get my Foray Jacket replaced
Won’t buy again. I’d rather romp around in a heavy cotton burlap sack.
If this is not the right forum, I apologize.
May 22, 2023 at 2:26 pm #3781638Curious what the issue was, and their response? Photos?
May 22, 2023 at 3:19 pm #3781640I had a pocket blow out on a Foray Jacket. Filed claim back in January. Took them a while to email me back and tell me that their warranty stock is out (I wonder why?) and I have to send the defective item back which I did. That was the beginning of March. Since then, I’ve gotten nothing but run around and excuses including they can’t find the shipping number for my item.
first, why the hell am I doing all the work to correct their lousy workmanship.
second, you’re then going to jerk me around when I finally had enough.
I guess I’m going to have to file a small claims in civil court. Outdoor Research is Dba someone else I think because I can’t find them on the corporation commission website for Virginia. If they have a presence in the commonwealth, they should have to register with them for this reason.May 22, 2023 at 3:47 pm #3781648CALL them mid-morning Pacific time. Ive had two warranty issues resolved by phone much more easily.
May 22, 2023 at 4:01 pm #3781649Obviously the process is slower and more cumbersome than the you hoped, but it doesn’t sound to me like they aren’t honoring the warranty, as originally claimed in the OP post. Most likely, you will eventually get your replacement. If you’re not happy with the quality and service, then by all means you should avoid their products in the future. My experience with OR products and service has been excellent.
May 22, 2023 at 4:26 pm #3781650I’ve already talked to them. My question was how can you be working off April’s warranty claim when I filed mine in Jan? There was no response offered.
If I’m the one churning the water then you must be doing something completely wrong. I have rarely done this, but enough is enough. Besides, I doubt they’ll miss my business.

I doubt it, too. But making a post in a public forum with the subject line “Outdoor Research Sucks!!!” is not the same as no longer giving them your business. Your post might be helpful if you simply relayed your experience with their customer service without making ungenerous blanket claims. Just a thought.
May 22, 2023 at 5:42 pm #3781668Exped just replaced a 10 y.o. mat for me. No hassle. Not a penny out of my pocket.
May 22, 2023 at 6:24 pm #3781670Dave, after dealing with them for this simple issue, generosity is in short supply. I’m not speaking for anyone but myself. I have a lot of OR gear but after this, I am out of any goodwill I had for them. [edited – MK] It’s not the warranty issue in and of itself, it’s just the dirt kicking that they gave me when pressed for something specific or at least informative. In the future I just spend the extra money for good service I guess.
