I wear US 9.5 in the Lone Peak 4 mesh’s. I ordered the medium crocodiles and the boot lace hook is about 1/4″ to 1/3″ in front of the hook on my loan peaks, meaning the crocodile boot lace hook is overlapping the ring. Should I size down to a small or look elswhere? Are there similar 2.5+ layer gtx gaiters that will work or that aren’t so tall as the crocodile’s if the small doesn’t fit?
Downsize, they run big.
Having had OR Crocodile’s, I have to say I replaced them (worn out) two years ago with the Sea To Summit Quagmire. It’s a better gaiter. The velcro closure on the OR at the bottom of the gaiter will wear out and becomes useless in a few years, whereas the STS has a snap that stays put. Also, unlike the OR, the STS instep strap is replaceable should you wear it out. All and all the Quagmire is a better gaiter. The Large will fit you.

The size depends on your calf-circumferance. Although in theory based on my shoesize I just needed an L, I had to go to an XL in reality.
