I’m wondering if I need some new Deep Cold mittens. I’m after some user feedback on the use of these in really cold weather. Specifically
1/ if it is possible to do anything when wearing the mittens except hold onto a shaft
2/ Is the insulation symmetrical in the liner or is it thinner in the palm and thicker on the back of the hand?
3/ Is the insulation symmetrical in the shell or is it thinner in the palm and thicker on the back of the hand?
4/ How quickly the synthetic insulation used in the liner collapses and whether a pile or woollen mitten would make a better liner
5/ How robust are they
6/ If you bought a pair were you satisfied and would you purchase another pair?
My trip isn’t for another year or two but these are one of the few mittens that passed a casual Antarctic test and I need to know if I should make my own or purchase
