My mid tent uses the rsbtr 0.93 osy silpoly

I put a guyline on the ends to pull the fabric out so the foot end of my sleeping bag doesn’t touch the inside of the fabric that can get wet with condensation

I just sewed 0.5 inch grosgrain directly to one layer of the tent fabric.  That’s pretty lazy, but it doesn’t have a lot of load on it.  Until I walked by and tripped over it which ripped the fabric

I repaired it with packing tape on the front to get the pieces aligned, then silicone caulk along the tear, then a scrap of the same fabric over it, then sew around the perimeter.

On the other end I put a scrap of the fabric on the inside with silicone caulk, let it cure, then sewed around the perimeter:

Then sewed a grosgrain loop on the outside:

I don’t sew my own tents, but I always use a bit of shock cord on mid-panel tie points to take a bit of the stress off. Still gets the job done of pulling the fabric away from sleeping bag, etc.

Hello Jerry

I trip over my guy lines with monotonous regularity (even though they are reflective, I try to set them up where and when I wont etc). Have been relieved that I haven’t damaged my tent or tarp.

Did you repair it on site or at home?

Cheers

same here, some of us don’t pay attention.  I have reflective lines too, but that didn’t help.  Normally the tent doesn’t rip.

In the field, I just moved away from the new opening.  It rained but I stayed dry (enough).  That was a home repair.  Actually, that tent is sort of a frankenstein tent with a bunch of repairs and experiments, I could make a new one.

I have a couple other guylines that attach on a flat felled seam where the fabric is several layers, didn’t reinforce.  That light silpoly is fairly strong for being so light.  And it doesn’t stretch when it gets wet.
