When reading a forum thread, then using the browser’s back button to return to the forum thread list the following error is displayed perhaps 25% of the time.  This has been happening consistently since the move to the new forum software.

Refreshing the page does not resolve the issue.  One must navigate to some other part of the BPL site then use the site’s navigation to return to the forum thread list.

This is the (a) specific sequence of events that triggers this behavior:

1. View the “Recent Topics” forum (https://backpackinglight.com/recent-forum-topics/). I have this bookmarked.
2. Click and read a thread.
3. Click the back button to return to the thread list.

I have seen this on both MacOS and Windows in multiple browsers.  I am using MacOS Big Sur (11.6.1) and Safari 15.1, although as mentioned this has been happening since the move to the current forum software and thus has been seen on multiple OS and browser versions.

Yup – same here. To get around this when looking at “recent topics” I have started opening every thread I want to look at in a new tab that I can just close after reading to avoid using the back button.
