@Stephen Tom had Gore (or Gore-like) zip pants- he was able to dump heat by unzipping them (they mate nicely to the zip Pelotons); never thought about how they would fare getting dunked- might be the right choice

Not one but two bags of Fritos! Were they planned as emergency rations?

Was that a Moulder strip on the stove in one of the photos?

Thanks!  Tom just likes Fritos- good for me as I only brought one bag and they were gone on day 6 :)

My “real” emergency rations were a 750 calorie Range Mealbar and two spare Kind bars- I made it out with those

yes a copper Moulder strip; I’ve had really good luck pushing my MSR Pocket Rocket Deluxe down to some pretty low temps by adding it

Just for reference I was using the Haglofs L.I.M Pant. I swear by them in these type conditions.

Mike , awesome trip report ! You and Tom take the cake as the two toughest back country guys i know ! Been texting Tom about this years open – iur east crew passing this year , but very bummed about it – will all be back next year !
