Once upon a time…

In the dark ages Macpac used to manufacture tents in New Zealand and with a purple fly. During this time, self-respecting men roamed the earth in 6 and 8 cylinder cars. Climate change and fake news were concepts unknown to common folk and women held down two full-time jobs (once children were old enough). The internet was a thing but not for the average person (not everyone even had PCs).

I’m not sure if it was immortalised on gold DVD and sent into space for the benefit of bridging the inter-species gap (no doubt Science ensured it was) but Macpac seem to have misplaced some of their marketing materials of this era.

Back in these days, apparently Macpac did some wind tunnel testing and they even released to the public some comparative aerodynamics (wind on different tents, different angles… no absolute values but they made continuous line graphs for comparison).

I’ve searched the internet (even resorting to the wayback machine) and I’ve asked Macpac but to no avail. Anybody happen to have a copy?

Goes without saying (I’m sure you would agree) it would likely be for the collective good during these times if this information was resurrected.

NB: Some of there designs persist with fairly minor changes.

Thanks in advance

I remember those old catalogues; sadly I did not keep any of them. They were full of useful information and great tips for both experts and beginners.

I too would  like to see a return of full and proper information but sadly I don’t ever see it happening.

For some of us “once upon a time” was pre 1980… something in the internet age was essentially yesterday.
