Forgive me if this has been covered before — I have been MIA on this forum for a while.

When I was in the infamous inner turmoil that strikes so many of us before we shell out an arm, a leg, and a tenth of our soul for the mysterious cuben fiber, one of the questions I never got a definitive, empirically derived answer to was: does it absorb water? With weights before and after.

I am in love with my Khufu, and have been for a little over a year. Last night we got hammered with a storm that hit us with 50mph winds and 1.2″ of rain in 3 hours, so naturally, I pitched the Khufu and my Jannu.

Khufu before bone dry (longer guys lines, some bungie and tie outs for inner): 11.1oz

Khufu after, sopping wet (though I shook off some of the water): 15.2oz

I was a little surprised, but I undoubtedly took some unabsorbed free standing water with it, and I’m sure the guy lines accounted for some/most of that as well.

Just wanted to give my .02 for anyone curious.

Both the Khufu and the Jannu laughed at the winds. Both fully guyed out. No flapping from either one. Khufu just pitched with one pole. No video sadly, because I did not have my GoPro.
