I had a taste of one (beef and lentils), it wasn’t bad. But to be clear, this is not a dehydrated dinner, it’s like a yuppie MRE.
I’ve seen these at a number of different places, and my initial thought was that “self-heating” would equate with “heavy”. I’ll be honest and admit that I didn’t look any further to see if that was true… I’d be interested to hear any feedback as well. Yuppie MRE sounds like it could be a pretty accurate assessment
$7 for a single serving of oatmeal at a weight of 8 oz??
And that’s not the total weight…
Includes 8 oz. of food, biodegradable heating element, spoon and napkin
The weight and volume of the trash alone for a 4-5 day trip would be prohibitive.
And the beef stew is 170 calories??!! That has got to be the worst kcal/oz in existence. Allowing a modest 2 oz for heater/spoon/napkin would yield a total weight of 10 oz, therefore 17 kcal/oz.
Uhh, no.
Much better :)
Bob, that tells me everything i need to know…
I’ts for the busy Moms that have kids in the car saying “are we there yet…I’m hungry” :-)
