OG Mid 90’s Backpacking chair?

I believe it’s called the Sling Light chair.  You’re correct in that it’s no longer made.  Bummer, because it was ultra comfortable to sit in.  I remember the first time I sat in one in the late 80’s/early 90’s I vowed to get one someday because it was so. freaking. comfortable.  Sadly, a poor college student couldn’t afford the $100 or so it cost at the time.  You can find them from time to time on eBay, usually for more than what they sold for new.

They are not all that packable, although they do fold flat, and when you add the optional headrest it weighs about twice as much as the Helinox Chair Zero.  It is also somewhat hard to get out of as you’re almost on the ground already.  That being said, it is really great to lounge in.  I have friends that still have them and love them.

They did start making some again, as the affiliate link in your posts shows. Follow that link, they cost nearly $150 now.

Ah, yes! Thanks for the info. We were discussing pros and cons of the Chair Zero and how, a long time ago, we scoffed at the Sling light and who would actually carry one! Now we are are thinking a Chair Zero may not be bad to add and what we can parse out of the kit to accomodate! I don’t think I am there yet but who knows?
