Deep in (solo) tent research and getting great feedback from the BPL community, I ran across a quote that said the Big Agnes Fly Creek doesn’t get much love from the BPL community. Â It was a few years back, before I joined, but it raises a question with me.
I understand the BA FC 2p for 2 people with (one) front entrance and (one) smaller front vestibule is not awesome. Â I also concur that given the interior/walls/design the headspace is not great – for 2p.
However (& frankly I’ve never been drawn to this tent), in an effort to be objective this proven shelter is looking more interesting. Â My research bears out that many FC users & owners – even those who have sold their FC & moved on to other shelters – still sing it’s praises for storm worthiness & weight.
The question I pose is – wouldn’t the FC 2p (perhaps Platinum) make a fine 1p? Â Plenty of storage inside & front vestibule for 1 person; plenty of headroom for 1 person, decent weight (Platinum’s “quoted” trail weight is 26 oz), good history of performance; can be staked out in bad weather; super simple. Â The biggest complaint I’ve found is the weakness in the zipper curve (interesting the Carbon FC has remedied that).
Opinions? Thanks!
