Nitecore HA11 – Single AA headlamp experiences?

I’ve been using a Mammut S-Lite single AA headlight for around 14 years and recently I had some battery acid leak out and start some corrosion that has made the switch somewhat unreliable.  I’ve managed to clean it up and gotten it working pretty well, but when I got to looking it appears that LED technology has improved quite a bit over the past 14 years!

When I bought the S-Lite I was looking for the lightest headlamp I could find that used standard batteries.  The S-Lite fit the bill at 1.7oz with battery and it’s fit my needs nicely over the years but now that I’m looking for a replacement I ran across the Nitecore HA11 that is reportedly 1.3oz with a single AA battery.  I’ve seen lots of comments on the rechargeable NU20/21 and NU25 lights the past few years, but not much on the HA11.  Does anyone have any experience with the HA11?

No personal experience but a decent review at http://parametrek.com/blog/ha11.html which includes a runtime graph which confirmed that the intensity / runtime provided  seemed rather optimistic.  Yes, on high it starts at 240lumens, but it falls to 140 in a minute, down to 100 at 22 minutes, and notched down after that.  I will pay a slight weight penalty for the current regulation of headlamps like the Zebralight H5x which will stay close to full brightness until the battery is drained.

Thank you Mark.     For comparison, my current headlamp has a maximum lumens of 20 based on old specs I’ve found!

I use AAA and get by with 20L most of time. Easy enough to  hit high 80 lumens momentarily when needed.
