So…

I hike with a Six Moon Design Gatewood Cape and Net Tent… I use the cape for extended rain and it’s great.  I also carry Patagonia Houdini pants and a jacket for early morning and early evening warmth and overall windshear protection.  The Houdini top/bottom are great and weight almost nothing….they work well in a short light sprinkle ((are sold as having “a DWR (durable water repellent) finish”))…but..Wondering what folks’ experience is with NikWax Spray water repellent in general…or..maybe even with the Houdini.  Or….if there are other waterproofing products that might work for nylon ripstop to make a product with water resistance…a bit more robust in terms of being close to “water-proof.”

Thanks all!!

I can’t speak to the spray but I have used the Nikwax tech wash  many times on my houdini with great results. These garments need to be washed somewhat frequently since you’re usually dirty when wearing them so getting them clean along with the DWR in the tech wash has worked very well for me. Water noticeably beads after a wash and lasts for a few trips out.
