Are they worth revisiting?

I ask because I bought a cheap pair of Winflo for treadmill running, and I found the cheaper foam midsole more responsive than either my HOKAs or my new TOPOs. They seem to be ahead of the pack on foam technology even in their low end running shoes.

However, when I read reviews for their different trail runners, I found a lot of complaints about all of them being slippery on wet rocks. I know their newest line-up is moving to vibram, so are they worth checking out?

I mostly hike in the southwest. I like the cushion of the HOKAs and the wide toe box of Altras.

I love love love Nike Wildhorse 3s and 4s for everyday wear standing on my feet most of the day. i like the wide toe box/forefoot with a snug heel. I have many pairs of them.

I do not like them in hiking applications. The sole of the heel is rounded which gives the shoe an unstable feel for me when walking on off camber surfaces. The uppers are not particularly durable compared to my preferred Brooks Cascadias.

Perhaps you meant a different model from Nike’s line. What shoe(s) were you referring to?

I find the heel less snug in my TOPOs, but the grip is better than my HOKAs, and they breathe better. Too early to tell how long they’ll last.

The southwest desert tore up my HOKAs pretty good. Not the upper though.  It was the midsole foam and the glue coming undone from the toe.

I wasn’t looking at any particular trail runner by Nike. But I heard the refresh will come with vibram. Thought I’d give them a try. The last shoe I had with upper durability issues with was Innov8.  But I’ve given up on minimalist shoes. They don’t last, and I get blisters. And now being older, they hurt my knees more. Give me lots of cushion.

I’ll give Brooks a look again. The last time I wore them was in 2011.
