It looks like there are new versions of the Montbell Versalite and Peak Shell. The Versalite has gone from 2 layer GTX Windstopper to 3 layer breeze dry-tec. It’s 5.9 ounces with pit zips.
The Peak Shell has gone from 3L Peak Dry Tec to 3LGore Tex and has pit zips. At 7oz it’s the lightest 3L GTX I am aware of.

Would anyone care to opine on pros/cons of the new Versalite vs Peak Shell jackets based on these new fabric choices?
Either of these fabric options PFAS free varieties?

Based on the information at this link, I’m guessing the current answer is, “No.” At least not yet.
But they are definitely working on it: https://www.japantimes.co.jp/environment/2024/03/10/sustainability/pfas-japanese-fashion-outdoor-brands/
They can both be shipped to California though.
I’m surprised that they would change the Versalite considering the popularity and praise this jacket has received as of late. I guess they have faith in their proprietary fabric to continue this trend. Maybe a cost saving move? Anyway, I always thought it was odd that Windstopper was marketed to keep out the rain. I realize it more or less works, but it’s just a funny name in this application.
I hope the change is for the good as I’m a fan of Montbell clothing in general.
