Hello,

I currently have a Nemo Dragonfly 2p tent which I haven’t used yet but it looks like a great freestanding double walled tent reasonably light enough to use solo at 48 oz packed. The issue is my 14 year old daughter goes on a couple trips a year with me and we both love our Nemo long wide pads. I backpack mostly 2-3 day trips in the White Mountains of NH where it can be cold, wet, hot, humid in all three seasons. There are also wooden tent platforms a lot of places.

My question is what you all recommend? Should I keep the Nemo for solo use and get something similar like a BA CS 3HV for the two of us or sell the Nemo and splurge on the new Tarptent Double Rainbow Lithium for both solo use and father/daughter trips?
My only concerns are how functional is it really for the both of us with long/wide pads? Will we be bumping into each other and sidewalls getting soaked with condensation? How good would that trekking pole freestanding option be on tent platforms? Lastly, I have never used a hybrid design Dyneema tent and scared of  putting that cash down if I can’t handle the condensation issues?
If I don’t get the Tarptent, I’ll have almost $400 to invest in other gear? Thoughts/recommendations appreciated.

thanks

Oh I used to own it then sold it because I convinced myself at 3lbs, 14 oz , it was a bit much for just me so I bought the BA CS2 then traded it in for the Dragonfly 2. It was a great tent though..

I have the original double rainbow, which is similar in size I think to the Li, and the Copper Spur 3 (not HV). The CS3 is a lot bigger for two. The DR is fine for me with two but some may view it as tight. I don’t mind it. The CS3 will give you a bit more room.

I’m thinking I may go the two tent route and get the BA Copper Spur HV 3 and keep my Nemo Dragonfly 2p for solo trips. I tend to agree with you..

Depends when you bought it.

The current version of both the sil and DCF are 33% wider in the middle , so easier to have two sitting up at the same time.

Awesome! I was thinking of the Li later this summer so that’ll be a nice treat. I got by TT DR in 2011, so it’s likely smaller.
