A Council wanted to sell off a Public Hall to developers because it was in need of expensive repairs.
So what happened to the hall? If the council was responsible for the upkeep, but couldn’t afford it, and also couldn’t get rid of it, was the public willing to pay more in taxes to support it?
The Council had contracted to look after and maintain the Hall when they accepted the Trust – so they had to. Given the number of expensive ego-driven boondoggles perpetuated each year by the politicians, finding the samll amount of funds was not that hard.
