I’m baffled (see what I did there?). I bought this quilt through the gear swap in 2012. If memory serves it was advertised as a Revelation X 20 Degree Regular Wide with 30% overfill. I’m relying on my memory for this because I can’t find the original ad, the message thread doesn’t include specifics and the seller hasn’t been active for several years. Weight is 18.352 ounces, which seems a little light for the regular wide with overfill, but I’m not what one might call quilt savvy (clearly).
Here’s why I’m confuzzed. Other than having the 1/4 zip at the foot box the quilt doesn’t look like a Revelation to my admittedly untrained eyes, mainly because the baffle pattern appears to differ from what’s shown on EE’s site. There’s also no EE branding on it anywhere (maybe that’s normal). For a hot minute I thought maybe it came from the X mass drop a few years back. I dismissed that idea though, because I paid more second hand than the mass drop price, it seems nicer than the reviews lead me to believe I should expect the mass drop version to be – and from what I can tell it appears the mass drop occurred several years after 2012, when I bought this quilt.
Someone enlighten me (I just can’t stop!). Note the baffle pattern, and also note the lines (additional stitching?) I think are probably attributable to the different material they used for the X’s shell. Could the different pattern be chalked up to its age? I looked around unsuccessfully for an answer to that question.
Hopefully it doesn’t seem like I’m complaining. I like the quilt, but in the years I’ve had it I’ve only ever used it as a topper over my cold natured wife when we’re together in our ZPacks Twin. I did deploy the quilt as intended on my single pad (Tensor Insulated), but only in the house. Once I educated myself on the foot box and snaps and proper use I quickly decided I’d enjoy using it as intended, but I’d love to know what I have before I test it outdoors.
In case anyone is wondering, I haven’t reached out to the seller or EE yet but probably will today. Here are some pics to help you help me.
Thanks a bunch!
EDIT – I found a review from ~2014 with photos of a Revelation and the baffle pattern matches mine. Maybe I have my answer. This quilt is in amazing condition if it’s really that old.
