I picked up one of the new MLD ProVent FKT bivies this winter. (For context/comparison, I have > 200 nights in two older-style MLD eVent Soul bivies over the past 10+ years.)

The reason I purchased this bivy sack was sizing – I wanted something that was large enough to accommodate a CCF pad + 3.5-inch inflatable + a winter sleeping bag. I opted for the XL size. It accommodates this stack well, with no sleeping bag loft compression (at least when using my 10 °F FF Lark.)

I have limited experience with this bivy so far, and will update my review here as I spend more time in it. In winter temps (nights of 0 °F to 20 °F), condensation is what I expect – a bit of frost on the inside. Similar to just about every other bivy I’ve used in these conditions.

In moderate temps (25 °F to 35 °F), I experience more condensation with the ProVent fabric than I did with MLD’s eVent fabric. Paper specs of MVTR of “ProVent” seem optimistic – but the actual field performance didn’t meet my expectations when compared to eVent. Kind of a bummer, but not a deal-breaker, as the breathability is certainly good enough for my needs.

I haven’t used the bivy in warmer temps yet.
