Regarding satellites used, currently Echostar is used in UK and some of Europe. Inmarsat is used for rest of Europe and North America. So, North America is Inmarsat only.

how well would the defy work with the strap removed and the device stored in a shoulder strap pocket?

1… I think a lot of people might not want to download the Defy app… some could think it is some kind of spam or potential hacking…

2… I really like the fact that messages sent from inReach show a topo map of your exact location… without having to do anything to get it… it’s pretty cool to send a map showing you on top of a famous peak… friends and family like that a lot…

3… I would want more beta on how effective the Defy sat coverage is in different situations… and how reliable and professional is the SOS service… would like to see a track record… my impression is that the Garmin is very good…

Thanks for that, Jim.  I got a Motorola Defy Satellite Link soon after it became available in the US.  Having never used a satellite messenger before, it’s been a little bit of a learning curve for me.  When I found this list, it made thing a lot easier.  It would be helpful if Bullitt would also release a series of Youtube shorts like the one you posted above covering the various topics in the Guides list.  I think it would be useful to those of us who are primarily visual learners.
