MLD vs SO

My thoughts on the SuperMid is that it’s a similar size to my BD Megalight, a shelter I’ve shared with two other adults, and I’m 6’3″.  For two hikers at or under 6′, it should be palatial for two plus gear.  I don’t own the SuperMid but own a couple MLD backpacks and their Grace Solo cuben tarp, plus other items, and the quality has always been very good.

From a feature standpoint it looks pretty straight forward, cimarron looks a good bit bigger but a good bit heavier. MLD looks like it will have more air gap under each side.

Never seen the MLD in person, but from pictures it appears to have a bit taller proportions and more aggressive cat cut. It also appears to have more upper guy out points, and single door vs. double on the cimarron.

The SO silvertip might actually be closer to the supermid in size, but I’d guess it is a hair smaller.

A Rok Slide hunting forum contributer recently posted a comprehensive review comparing those 2 shelters plus others. The MLD came out on top.
