I don’t know if this will actually impact too many people, as the Patrol wasn’t MLD’s most popular shelter, but it looks like it has gone the way of the Dodo.

Longer explanation on the MLD web site:

“Now there are far better options at lower weights with more usable features.”

Serenity Bugnet also discontinued. It should have been wider and shorter.
I have a 1 person dcf version that I bought on gear swap that is one of my faves. Sorry to see it go. Paired with the Super Bivy it’s been a great combo.
I never had a Patrol Shelter, but I had a similar design – the Gossamer Gear SpinnShelter that I used as my primary shelter for several years. I still have it mostly for sentimental reasons, but I agree that there are better shelter options nowadays.
I bought a Patrol Duo last year, but have yet to get out anywhere to really get a feel for it. Interestingly, the Q&A/explanation that Rex mentions states that a 2P Cricket will be released in the late spring, pairing with a DuoMid XL inner.
Steven, If you ever decide to sell it, I would be interested in it.
Least favorite shelter i ever used!
I actually own the Patrol Shelter Solo and it is so insanely light that I like it as a UL shelter with my Borah Gear bivy. I just think the added coverage of a Duo would be of benefit.
Dirtbag, just for interest sake, what is your favorite shelter ever?
There is no favorite ever. I love my hammock set up! Right now I am really loving my Gatewood Cape and Serenity Net tent, Katabatic gear Bristlecone bivy or Borah gear bug net bivy. I also will always love a simple A frame tarp.
For me, the patrol shelter.. that dang beak.. getting in and out during the night became a pain!! Too much hassel.
