Anyone know of a manufacturer that makes a vest out microfleece?
With Patagonia’s Micro D pullover weighing 8.5oz and MHW’s Microchill Lite p/o weighing 7oz, I’m thinking a vest weighing around 6oz isn’t out of the question. As long as it actually exists.
Apr 12, 2017 at 4:54 pm #3462924cut the arms off?
Apr 12, 2017 at 4:59 pm #3462926Too vain for that. I like to wear my backcountry clothes in the front country as well
Apr 12, 2017 at 5:00 pm #3462927I’m guessing you can find a vest, but
You could cut off the arms cleanly and not make it look too weird
Apr 12, 2017 at 5:36 pm #3462934Montbell Chameece fleece vest is the answer; unfortunately no longer for sale on their US website. However, you can still order on Montbell Japan. Pretty decent price as well, around $30-$40 USD. Weighs less than 6 oz I think.
Apr 12, 2017 at 6:03 pm #3462937That would be great, but shipping to the US is $27!
Apr 12, 2017 at 6:55 pm #3462947I stopped in the Portland last month to get a Chameece jacket and was told that the line was being changed and would be reintroduced in the fall. No idea about what will be changed.
Btw, my men’s medium vest weighs 5.3 oz.

Apr 12, 2017 at 7:13 pm #3462953I hope Montbell does come back with a new Chameece model and the change is replacing that ugly cactus color. Last year I wanted to buy one and regularly checked their US website. The only size available for occasional brief moments that fit me was cactus which I didn’t want. I like green, just not limeish colors. So I didn’t get it.
Apr 12, 2017 at 10:52 pm #3462981I was going to say the Montbell Chameece. I have one in Large and it weighs 153g (5.4oz). I hope it comes back up in the US for you guys. I really like it because it is so light, but also not so crazy thick so you can actually wear it while moving at a decent pace.
I also have a piece by Marmot, but it might be Marmot Japan only – not sure.
Marmot Polartec Alpha Power Grid Vest.
Is is a vest with a very thin Alpha front, and a very thin Powerdry back.
Has a half zip and a kangaroo pocket. Weighs 154g in a (Japanese) Large.Apr 16, 2017 at 5:12 pm #3463527Simon,
I can’t vouch for the quality, but here’s one you may look at.

Apr 16, 2017 at 6:01 pm #3463535Also a Chameece fan and awaiting the new MB stuff, but in the meantime there’s a similar microfleece vest at Eddie Bauer for a good price…Oops… only available in small… grrrrr……….

I actually have one of the Port Authority microfleece full zipper sweaters and I wear it to work and around the house a WHOLE lot in the winter/cool months. Â It is really nice and has lasted me four years with lots of use. Â I have never taken it hiking, however. Â But I think a vest would be very practical.
