I’m looking to get a free-standing/self-supporting mesh tent. I want tent poles as I don;t use hiking poles. Big Agnes seems to have quite a few including the Seed House, Fly Creek HV, Tiger Wall, Copper Spur Platinum, etc.
I like the Fly Creek HV UL2 at only 1lb, 15oz.
Any others in the general weight class (up to 3lbs max) with a price point $600 and below you could recommend?
Apr 9, 2021 at 9:15 pm #3708443Maybe the Moment DW from TarpTent. Just under 3 pounds with the aluminum crossing pole that makes it freestanding. In theory a lighter carbon crossing pole is available, but I can’t find it on TT web site.

Consider the $35 seam-sealing service, too.
I owned an early Moment-not-DW. Very easy to set up, mostly roomy enough, but I fell out of love with silnylon (supposed to be better now), and with a thick-enough sleeping pad, I was too tall to sit up straight at 6’2″. YMMV.
