If my son takes a size 5W boys in Merrells would he take a size 7W in women’s?

Merrells fit him well these days. The trail runners he has are gtx, and i want to get him something non-gtx like the Moab Ventilators. Which they don’t make in boy’s sizes, but they do make in women’s sizes….

So am I doing that size conversion right? Any other ideas?

(yeah I know NB is good for wide options, but he doesn’t like their fit anymore)

    Women’s 7 is a Men’s 5 in length, yes.

But a women’s wide is only a men’s medium in width.

    That’s an important detail. Thanks.

Women’s wide = Men’s medium can be a helpful trick for some:

Women with wide feet can buy standard men’s shoes.

Women with extra width feet can buy Men’s W.

Men with narrow feet can buy off-the-shelf women’s shoes.

I had a friend who wore Women’s 12 which is very hard to find in high heels, etc.  But while hiking and sports shoes in Women’s 12 are hard to find, Men’s 10 is easy.  Taking my shoes was even easier.
