If a post starts with the poster quoting from someone else’s post, the poster’s name isn’t displayed.
For example, HkNewman’s, Ryan Humphrey’s and Edward John M’s posts in this thread.
Jun 1, 2021 at 12:14 pm #3716541Thanks, we logged this issue over the weekend and it’s in our queue. Shouldn’t be a major issue to get fixed.
Jun 7, 2021 at 10:51 pm #3717661This issue should be resolved, but I’m going to leave this open in case it pops up again.

Jun 8, 2021 at 2:01 pm #3717800Can others besides William test this as well? Just post a reply here that starts with blockquoted text.

Jun 9, 2021 at 7:39 am #3717880Is anyone seeing the names of the posters?
Jun 9, 2021 at 8:41 am #3717891Blockquote to begin the post….
text following blockquote
Jun 9, 2021 at 8:48 am #3717892This morning all posts beginning with a blockquote were NOT displaying the member name. Â Now all of those same posts ARE showing the name for me on:
- MacOS 11.15.7, Safari 14.01.1 and Firefox 89.0
- iOS 14 and Safari
- iPadOS 14 and Safari
Jun 9, 2021 at 9:41 am #3717899“Is anyone seeing the names of the posters?”
Yes, I currently see them.
Jun 9, 2021 at 10:27 am #3717908Ok, I’m seeing the names on Chrome on Windows 10 and on Chrome on Android 9. I’m not seeing them on Firefox on Windows 10 and I have cleared my cache.

still not seeing usernames when the quotes are used at the beginning.
On Chrome Version 88.0.4324.150 (Official Build) (64-bit), Win 10.
Jun 15, 2021 at 11:32 am #3718722test
second test – if I hit the enter button to insert a blank line before inserting a quote, my username shows up.
Jun 15, 2021 at 11:35 am #3718723test
third test – if I start the quote, and then hit enter to add a line, no username.
I’m no HTML or BB guru – maybe the scripting of the new reply could just add a space by default – I’m unsure whether the quotation box is removing the username, or just blocking it.

Interesting. User names are now showing for me.

Edited: This post (with the blockquote) does not show my username. The previous two do.
All posts in this thread that start with a blockquote do not show the username.Jun 17, 2021 at 5:06 am #3719013I also do not see Pedestrian’s name on the last post.

Jun 23, 2021 at 8:14 pm #3719832JCH, Pedestrian, William – I’m pretty convinced you guys are experiencing very aggressive caching of old stylesheets in your browsers. Basically, you are not seeing the fix here because your browsers are still loading the old stylesheets.
If you STILL see this behavior, then I’d like to see a screenshot video going through the exact steps below (e.g., Loom is easy to use and free, we use it all the time for user diagnostics):
Clear all of your browser cache/history, open an incognito window, visit the site, log in, open the developer view (on Chrome: View > Developer > Developer Tools) / visit the Network Tab, make sure the Disable Cache box is checked, visit a page where you’ve seen this behavior before, load it, refresh it, and then check it out.
I know having a user clearing browser cache and history is a pain, but from a developer’s standpoint, we have little choice. We’ve cleared caches on our end, but ultimately we have to “respect your browser caching settings” instead of forcing it, which will ultimately degrade and slow down your browsing experience.

Ryan – looks like that’s it.  Safari in iPadOS 14 – cleared all history and data and the problems I saw in this thread no longer exist.  Will test on MacOS as well.
