Is there an objective method for measuring moisture buildup in down in the field? I generally just eyeball for loss of loft, a damp surface, a heavier feel, and lumpier down. But is there a more accurate discrete measure?

I have this precision hanging scale that I have taken in the field to measure moisture buildup. It’s not *quite* accurate enough for moisture measurements in apparel. I wish I had a 1 lb precision scale instead. This one is 6 lb. Most quality precision scales are accurate to within 1% of their range, so a 1 lb scale would give you about 1/6 ounce. But I haven’t been able to find a hanging scale in that range.
Most of the precision tests I’ve done (especially overnight) have been done where I can tent camp close to my camper and set up a very precise bench scale.

how to weigh a scale with that scale? – turn the scale upside down and tare it, then place on top of a can so the scale weighing surface supports the weight of the scale
$10 hanging scale with ~5g precision (grams only). Pocket-size. Probably not as accurate as Ryan’s.
