I am seeking any suggestions for a 2-3 week trip that I could do in March-June.

Info for what I am looking at.

-Will be done with my 16 yo daughter who is athletic, has hiking/backpacking skills

-Preferably out west as I would rather see landscape versus being in the treeline (former east coaster living in Alaska)

– No technical stuff

– No parks that require a bear canister. Would rather use an Ursack or hang.

– Bonus if there is fishing to be done, but not a requirement

-Mileage will of course vary depending on time of year, heat, and terrain. Willing to entertain any suggestions. We’ll be traveling lightweight, borderline ultralight

I appreciate any input. Trying to find a lower 48 long trip that is challenging, fun, and will provide good father/daughter time.

Thanks!

March through June is winter and spring in the West.  Tioga Pass Road in Yosemite often opens in late June, and that’s below 10,000 feet.

I would look at a spring road trip through the Southwest:. Grand Canyon, Bryce and Zion, etc.  Lots of hiking there, and plenty of opportunities to spend a night or three in the wilderness.

Last time we backpacked in the Sierra in May we got snowed on at 5000 feet.
