Mamajamba tarp repair advice

I’ve got that same tarp and what I recall is that it’s silpoly and super slippery. This might be a better question asked by all the gurus in make your own gear

Give the repair a shot- nothing ventured, nothing gained!

If it is silpoly, yep, it’ll be a bit slippery in a sewing machine.  It will also be cumbersome managing that much fabric through, and around, the machine.  Certainly neither issue is impossible to manage, but they will likely increase the f-bomb quotient.

To avoid all that, consider hand sewing the repair.  The tear is not crazy-long.  It’ll just require some patience and then some seam-seal.  I’ve never tried it, but perhaps using one of those small hoops that needle-pointers use could help isolate the tear and ease sewing?

Give it a shot.  As Thoreau cautioned, we need to avoid sub-contracting out the entirety of our lives.

Tenacious Tape?

you could try the methodology used in the link below, except cut the patch       the correct size for your tear. It couldn’t hurt. It’ll cost you a yard of material if you buy new, along with some seam sealer, or maybe hit up the other myog guys to see if they could send you some scraps. I have had luck with tenacious tape on both sides of the tear, but my tear wasn’t that big, only a couple inches.
