I am looking at making my own flat tarp from .75 oz non woven dyneema / cuben. I am looking at an 8.5′ x 8.5′. Checking in on the price of materials it is almost a wash buying this from ZPacks, etc. I realize that you loose the satisfaction of doing this yourself from raw materials, etc. Any thoughts?

I’ve made a couple and they are extremely easy to make. As in about two hours worth of time. However, if you plan on only making one for yourself I think you would be better of with Zpacks. By the time you buy tape, fabric for reinforcements, cutting tools, etc the cost to MYOG one is probably higher than Zpacks.
I think that 6 months ago it would’ve been better to MYOGÂ (when you could buy direct from CubenTech for under $20/yd).
But now I’d say just buy through Zpack. Even if MYOG saves you $20 I’d rather pay that $20 for a Zpacks tag and have someone else’s name tied to it’s reputation (If the tarp fails…call ZPacks and they might help out)
