My son has outgrown has Marmot Precip and he’s never liked it because it wets out so quickly even when new or after a DWR wash.

I’ve been liking my LUL silnylon (silpoly? I forgot which) non-breathable jacket with big pitzips. I had intended to get the young man one of those but it seems like Luke is unlikely to fulfill that order within the timeframe we require.

Any thoughts on other companies that make a similar rain shell? Anti-gravity gear makes one but it’s sold out. He tried a cagoule from Sierra Design but the fit was aweful.

That’s a good suggestion. I wonder if he’d like a Packa. I like mine on trips where I know rain is likely but it’s too much in a “it might but probably not” scenario.

Kevin, did you ever swap out the shockcord and cordlocks with the stuff I sent you?

No – It’s still sitting on the shelf in my office with your ziplock of goodies on top of it.  It’s one of those things that I keep meaning to do but just don’t get around to.  I think of you often though and figured my post would make you smile…

Matthew,

It looks like only some colors are sold out at Anti-Gravity Gear.  If you are flexible with the color choices, they may still have what you’re looking for.

He and I talked more and decided to grab him a Froggtoggs jacket which arrived today via Amazon. It sure was cheap and is fairly light. He put some duct tape in his repair kit too.

Thanks for the ideas.
