It felt like August summer upon stepping outside the car door at the Wigwam TH. Sun beating down through the lifeless and torched remainder of tree stumps that was ignited fourteen years ago, almost to the day. The Hayman fire was, and still remains the largest modern wildfire in the state’s history.
Not much of the Wigwam trail is effected by the burn, fortunately, but it was still warm. A light and welcoming rain cloud moved down valley as small drips of moisture cooled our mid-morning.
