Hi guys!
I recently built a “no footbox” climashield apex quilt with mesh inner and nylon outer. In my over 4 months of use, it exceeded my expectation of how breathable, quick drying, and comfortable a synthetic quilt can be.
The idea of no footbox sounds strange but it works because the mesh inner is not slippery like nylon fabric and so you can use it with zero constriction just like comforter at home. Plus, there is enough room to share with my partner.
This concept is so unique that I am wondering if there might be a market for it. That is why I would love to get some feedback on the product. If anyone has trip coming up, I would be happy to loan my quilt in exchange for feedback (shipping is on me).
Specs:
- Weight: 23oz / 650g
- Dimensions: 59″ X 90″
- Outer: 1oz HyperD uncalendared
- Inner: .5 oz mesh
- Insulation: 5oz Climashield Apex
- Tested till 40F (cozy)
- Fits 1+
It is possible to save additional 1.3 oz by using even lighter 0.67 oz fabric. (Thanks for tip, Aaron)
A couple of questions for you all:
- Do you have a preference for your home comforter over your quilt or sleeping bag for the freedom or movement ?
- Does your current sleeping bag or quilt feel clamy or plasticky against the skin? Is it something that bothers you?
Please feel free to answer here, or if you want you can PM me here, or email me direct at huzefasid@gmail.com.
I look forward to hearing your thoughts.
Cheers,
Huzefa
