Good afternoon everyone,

So my girlfriend and I are looking for a trail to hike sometime in late July. I have done the John Muir Trail in the past and was considering doing the Wonderland Trail this year.

After consideration, I think we’re going to pass on the Wonderland and we’re looking for something else

Hopes are that we can find somewhat of a 90 to 100 mile trail, preferably does not have the constant ups and downs of the Wonderland Trail at the same time delivers jaw dropping beauty such as the John Muir Trail as well as the Wonderland Trail

Could possibly even be a section of the PCT?

Any thoughts would be much appreciated!

Pct – still a lot of snow in late July.  Depends on year.

Tuolumne meadows to Vogelsang pass; down the the cutoff to Triple Divide well above Merced Lake. A very great side trip, which may be the highlight of your hike, takes you off trail up to the backside of Lyell Peak. Magical. Then continue on towards Triple Divide. Explore around that area, remaining up high. Drop down to Triple Divide proper. Then you have two alternatives: ascend again towards Reds Peak pass and over into that basin; OR, continue down towards Merced lake and then take one of three routes back up towards Sunrise camp. You don’t have to stay there! It’s crowded in season, but the views are truly beautiful. Then spend an easy day hiking back to Tuolumne Meadows.

This is more of a 60-80 mile hike, depending on how much exploration you choose to do. The off trail to the backside of Lyell is a one to two day affair, even though the mileage is minimal. Etc. etc.
