I am getting back into MYOG stuff, looking for a roll of 3M double sided tape 1/2 inch for DCF.
If anyone can direct me, or has any for trade, I have lots of backpack hardware, random stuff to trade

Mar 10, 2020 at 10:23 am #3635135There are also 9482PC and it’s thinner version 9485PC
No doubt someone has previously tested all or most of these tapes somewhere here on PBL?
If not I will, since I have a tent project I’m starting and enquiring minds want to know!
Mar 10, 2020 at 1:12 pm #3635151I’m sure it’s just a mistake but just to clarify:
9482pc is the thinner of the two. 2mil versus 5mil in 9485pc.
946, 947, and 948 series.
They all work sufficiently, however some are better than others. I remember reading about some tests (i think on hammockforums) showing the thinner 2mil versions worked well enough if not better. The most important little tidbits is to remember to use an adhesive promoter such as Primer 94 from 3m. Three step process involving cleaning via alcohol, prep via primer, and then apply the tape/adhesive.
David, good luck on the tests and I look forward to what the conclusions may be. After that, it’s time to once again tackle the bond vs. sew and strongest seam questions…hah
