Hi All,

I’m looking to replace the 12 mm sections of my trekking poles with longer ones for easier shelter pitching, and am looking for resources.

Does anybody know of a source for longer sections of 12 mm tubing that are carbide tip compatible? Maybe some 2-piece poles (vs the “standard” 3 piece)? Would golf shafts work for this? I’m not sure how long the straight section of those are.

Thanks in advance for any ideas!

@franco, currently using a older set of Leki trekking poles with 16, 14, and 12 mm tubing diameters, lever-lock style mechanism.

@moondog55
, Good question…I’m actually not sure of their absolute length, but the poles themselves extend to the “standard” 135 cm – I’d guess they’re roughly 20″ long. I’d like to find something around 6-8″ longer. I’ll get an actual measurement of the section length in a few hours.

I’m open to any type of MYOG or cobbling together of odds and ends. Specific examples and/or resources would be great!

I asked because there is a 26″ length in 12mm at TPT

Well actually half inch but I think the Easton might work

Half inch would be close enough. Does it happen to be tapered at one end? Wishful thinking most likely :)

TPT?

Edit: Tent Pole Technologies – of course!
