Longer, wider headnet?

I was looking to upgrade my headnet and saw Ryan’s recommendation for Ben’s Invisinet.  I got one to try out.  I think it is only supposed to work with a ball cap because I did not find that it had much width to it.  I am tall so I found that the length on it was barely enough.

It is a good headnet but I I am going to need something wider and longer.  Any suggestions?  Thank you.

I bet a head net would be easy to make…. or make longer… maybe just glue or tape a piece on to lengthen?

MLD’s headnet is much larger inside. I think it would be a good choice with a 360 brim.

I prefer a headnet made from tulle. I have a Peter’s Headnet which is ideal for me. I like the higher breathability. I think Simblissity’s net is identical other than the top strap is not adjustable. I don’t like it as much as the original but it’s fine and I have a couple of them banked in case I rip/lose my favorite solution. https://www.simblissity.net/ultralight-mosquito-headnet.htm

I ordered a Ben’s headnet too when I read Ryan’s comments about it. It seems like a good choice and the price is right. I only wore it for a minute the other night but I think it’s in third place for me because of the slightly decreased breathability of the mesh compared to tulle. This is all subjective and I didn’t try them back to back so please take it with many grains of salt.

Edit: simblissity says the top cinch is adjustable which would be an improvement. Or maybe I missed the adjuster on mine? I’ll check later.

I don’t know the dimensions on the Ben’s headnet but the the one at litesmith gives its dimensions

Bug Head Net .

My Bens Invisi fits over a ball cap but not over my fishing Tilley.  The Bens is long but has a weird beanie dome that crushes the brim if you try and pull it down.  Phil’s Ben’s review recommended the Sea-to-Summit Mosquito Head Net with Insect Shield for a larger hat, its a bit heavier (1.3oz vs 0.7 oz).  Both keep out mosquitos or black flies but not necessarily midges or no-see-ums.

I never bought one because my old Coghlan’s Bug head net though shorter lacks that weird beanie section so fits over my Tilley.  It leaves a slight gap at the neck but I just turn up my collar.  It’s a bit less pleasant to look through than the Ben’s but weighs 20g, the same as the Ben’s with its bag

I was for Simblissity until I saw that it will not stop noseeums and other small fliers.  The S2S look s nice but it appears that the Litesmith one is longer and I see that is a large plus.  Thank you!

I got the Litesmith one which is actually the Timbuktoo Head Net.  Wide and large and I am happy.  Thanks!

I’ve been happy with the S2S; I use it over a Tilley, and my partner uses hers over a ball cap. I figure the InsectShield can’t hurt, given the purpose — and it seemed to work on a particularly vicious overnight in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness.

I already had a couple of Peter’s, but influenced by this thread, I went and got Ben’s, Litesmith’s, and Simblissity’s.

Ben’s, way to small, I’ll be giving it away to someone in need on the trail.

Litesmith; good fit and coverage, but kinda heavy.

Simblissity: Amazing fit, top elastic is adjustable.  Equal in quality and design to Peter’s.  I’m very impressed.

In my book a head net is more valuable than a knife for backpacking…
