I own a Minshift toploader – more bulky than my needs, though excellent for shortish trips.
Also a Spider quick release clip that I attach to my straps. This is excellent and, for me, indispensible.
My DSLR is a fairly bulky NIKON D7200. I don’t intend swapping it out.
I’ve been researching potentially ‘good’ ways of packing this camera (plus lens), inside my pack. I want as ultralight as possible, with a degree of cushioning analagous to wrapping the camera in a cloth/towel. Ideally, the cell/bag must be flexible, wrapping around the camera to SOME extent, rather than a stiff, more robust ‘container’/material.
I can then put camera and protective cell/pouch in a dry bag if need be, It will be safely packed and fairly accessible.
Last year, on a long thru-hike in the Arctic, I took the Mindshift. It was excessively bulky for my ‘lightweight’, space-saving needs. I spent much of my time with the DSLR on the Spider clip and actually sent the toploader home. I DO want some form of internal storage though, for periods when camera use isn’t imminent. Hence the desire for a more flexible cell/pouch.
I wondered if anyone had any experience/recommendations? Perhaps a DCF one?
Any thoughts please? As lightweight and non-bulky as possible. I can store additional lenses, filters, etc., elsewhere.
