Trying to find a lightweight hooded down vest from a reputable outfitter. Does anyone have any leads?

The ideal candidate would be sub 10oz and sub $150. Not sure it exists!

<p style=”padding-left: 30px;”>Hey Simon ,I wasn’t finding one either a few years ago so I took a very inexpensive like 20$ ( after season)down  jacket at JCPenneys, and cut the sleeves off and sewed it and actually turn the sleeves into down socks works great. My wife liked it so much we bought one of the cheap Chinese Unicoi jackets (sorry about the spelling I don’t remember how it was spelled) and did the same to it, I think we got 15 bucks into hers she loves the socks as much or more than her hooded vest Her’s weighs 5 and 1/2 oz mine weighs 9 oz. XL. socks weigh less than 2 ounces.</p>

Yeah, that was my thought: a hooded vest is an odd and rare beast, much more so in UL materials.  But many UL hooded jackets are out there and you have scissors.

I love Lee’s converting the sleeves into down socks.

check out Nunatuk’s Apex line- easily under 10 oz (that’s what my pullover weighs; sub $150- close :)

I’m very impressed with the warmth (and loft) of the 2.5 Apex

I’m glad to see someone else interested in this. For the last year or so I’ve been longing to have a hooded pullover vest with a kangaroo pocket and ~3oz of down, it would be quite puffy. I contacted LUL and Goosefeet but both were prohibitively expensive. I’ll likely end up having to make one but I think it would be an awesome piece of gear.
