I am after an upgrade to my GoPro. I have a case for this camera which has a hot shoe but the microphone connection is a real mess with an adapter and chords everywhere. I think I may need to upgrade to a compact camera. What’s driving me is top-quality sound via a plug-in microphone and the ability to not have such a wide-angle shot at all times. Weight is a key feature. This camera would do it but is way too expensive https://www.sony.com/electronics/cyber-shot-compact-cameras/dsc-rx1rm2

Does anyone know the lightest compact camera with a hot-shoe?

The Sony you picked is a professional level full frame sensor camera which is a the top of the price range. APS-C, micro 4/3 and 1 inch sensor based cameras will be cheaper.

If you go to the B&H Photo website, click down to photography then point and shoot cameras. You can use the menus on the left hand side of the page to filter on sensor size, brand, features including hot shoe.

My Sony RX100 MKII has a hot shoe. I don’t shoot video so I can’t comment on that.
